    I don't remember exactly, but it seems to me, that they took from Russians regular Cyrilic alphabet for their writing, meanwhile their language hasn't anything in common with Russian language, sure.

    From what I see on the coin, the cyrillic is regular. I'm pretty much convinced they also have the extra characters employed in Russia (such as the "backward e", meaning a short "e"). Don't know about "i", which is used in Ukraine.
