1950 Franklin Proof value?

nederveitnederveit Posts: 1,038 ✭✭✭
Hey experienced Franklin Proof buyers, anyone have an idea on the value (I hope to buy, another hopes to sell) of a 1950 PCGS Proof 67? Not many of these change hands, so having a difficult time figuring out how much that coin is worth, POP=24/0. Thanks, any ideas (even ranges) are helpful.

VERY scarce. If you find one, it'll probably set you back over a thou..

Heritage archives don't contain a single example of the coin in PCGS PR67. The only one on Teletrade is clear back in November of 2002 and sold for $1550.

Thanks, it seems those that have them tend to hang on to them? $2000 was the general area we were in, thanks for your efforts!

Now, if any of you have a different one you would like to sell me......!image

It would depend on the coin some. If its a solid 67 with good eye appeal it would probably sell for about about $2,000+ in a major auction now.
If its a "gift" 67 then it might get $1700-$1800 in a major auction depending on how many people who just buy the slab are bidding.

What is the seller you are dealing with asking? Have you seen the coin yet?

Thanks for the thoughts, right now this person is going to the bank and then sending me pics. He thought about $2K, but as you said, the "quality" of that grade should be accounted for in the price. Since I suck at grading (think I'll even pass on the grading contests in the forum), would folks here offer an opinion if I forward those pictures?

Thanks Placid, nicely put on the pricing.
  • Just adding alittle more info. for you. I bought a complete 1950 PCGS Proof 67 set about 20 months ago for $2650 and felt as though I got a good deal. It is a wonderful set with a bright multi-colored toned proof 67 Lincoln, and a frosty cameo Roosie, rest of set is very original and never been dipped.

Toning, if you had to sell those individually, can you give me a ballpark? What would the approximate cost be per coin, still totaling at $2,650? I'm pretty clueless on the prices of the other proofs. image

I am sure people here will give you a opinion if you post a good picture.

I have a PCGS 1950 PR67 RD Lincoln pop 29/0 ,and have been told it is worth about $1,000.So the $1500-$2,000 value wouldn't be out of line IMHO

  • Gee! I bought a 1950 Proof set this winter because I loved the Monster toned quarter in it. The half was also nicely toned.

I looked again when I finished paying for it and I feel the half is Cam. The quarter sure does get me going though. I love the toning. My son-in-law likes the lincoln but I am not that fond of lincolns.

I am thinking of sending the half to PCGS for grading. I do not have any idea how to grade them

I know this doesn't answer your question but just couldn't resist spouting off.

I always thought that 1950 Frankies were not rare necessarily unless they were cameoed...

A PF67 is not easy to find I am sure however...
