Hey, look at my cool new nickel!

I just got this in the mail from another board member.

The best thing about this coin? It really looks like this.

I could get into these Jeffersons yet!

Very colorful, unique toning which I take to be album toning. And why would anyone collect Jeffs? image

  • That's a cool looking Jeff. I was in Salt City this past weekend and saw a cello sealed proof set with a Jeff that is completely toned to a perfect purple (my wife's favorite color). The more I keep thinking about it, the closer I get to going back and snagging it. I probably will this coming weekend, as I need to get a new pair of golf shoes anyway. image

I love that type of toning.

Yeah it's a pretty neat key date. I was surfing eBay one day in June 2002 and I saw it and I said hey that's really cool looking so I outbid everybody else & made it mine. There were 15 bids on it.
After I got it I said hmmm what am I going to do with it because I don't even collect Jeffersons. I owned a high grade war nic one time when I was doing a PCGS Modern Type Registry Set and I still own some 1997 MS 66FS & a Proof 70 DCam & other than that I never had much interest in Jeffersons so I'm glad it got a new home with somebody that will appreciate & enjoy it.
It was raw when I got it & sent it to PCGS just for fun to see how it would grade out because the original dealer blatantly overgraded & listed it as a MS67.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Very cool toning on that Jefferson!
