Another 86 Topps PSA 9 hits the bay

For you Mattingly collectors... just posted 4 hours ago... after seeing a $67 Gwynn go last week, the $99 BIN would make for a nice profit for the seller - and all of a sudden doesn't sound all that crazy of a price to pay.

Personally, I'm gonna wait a few weeks til the pop report gets updated after the recent special...

centering doesn't seem to great to me - certainly not $100 worthy....
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I agree about the centering. Maybe they let that slide because of the lack of chipping. But, I still find it hard to fathom paying $99 for a .25 cent card that you couldn't give away in lots of 100.

Gator just got one. So we'll see. I doubt this hits that much.

On the other hand, nine days later and I can't even get my '86 Topps order checked in.image
  • Get a grip guys. 86's are not easy--that's for sure, but they're not exactly 71's either. They're out there. You can't read into the populations either. It's all about who's submitting them and how good they are--the submitters that is. The vending/rack/wax just hasn't been hit too hard as the margins are not there yet. Everything we've all broken has been sitting in 5000ct. boxes for nearly 18 years and has moved with us everywhere we've gone if we still have them. That accounts for why our cards suck. After reading the threads I took a half hour this evening and shuffled through some 86 debris I have in my basement and found them to be ugly, but sharp. Not a slew of 9's, but enough to ease my mind. There is no shortage of MINT 9-to-be 1986 Topps baseball cards...don't panic.

On the other hand, if Gator does 86's like he did 81's, THOSE cards will be special. I broke some of those racks with Matt in Chicago and we were like kids in a candystore. I will say this, we discarded 9's because they were not worthy of the Gator standards. Stay tuned...

onegaucho, I make you a solemn promise to find you your Gwynn 9 this year. If I can't find you one, I'll eat the gum from my search.
The card just isn't that tough.
