I took pictures of Wybrit at the last Northwest show. He has to hand over his good British stock to me for the negatives! image

I intend to be there as well. Looking forward to seeing you there Josh.

They have shows that far north? I thought you guys spent the year sitting by a fire wishing you were somewhere else!

Turned out to be a smashing show, once Wybrit left. He had some nice looking coins it seems since he did beat me to the show. No matter, my silver three pence collection is smiling gladly. I nailed three awesome looking maundy 3d from 1828 up. Wybrit's statement that the stock at the show was thin turned out to be true, though South African was easy and plentiful at multiple dealers for scant coin. I even grabbed a nice rainbow toned 1/2d proof from SA for kicks.

However the best was indeed for last. I was scouring the dealers focused on US coins because I knew some of them dabbled in high end foreign silver, usually a tray or two. I got to one dealer and I look down and there it IS! The 1927 proof 3d. I've been after one of these for years, but the prices as Lloyd has pointed out are growing ever higher or they looked like garbage. The starting price was 1/2 of what Ebay runs these days and after asking for kicks if the price was firm, he knocked it down another 1/3. As if that isnt enough, turns out the guy collected silver 3d and has/is in the process of selling the collection! Mayhaps be a few that find their way into Av's collection.

Was nice to see you again Wybrit, couldn't figure out if Farthing was there or not. Hung around CIVITAS' table and watched Josh do some hagglin' with Norm. Probably the most animated I've ever seen Norm be.

Watch out you copper SA people. Wybrit had some in his greasy little paws and he was SMILING. His smile is quite.....unnerving.

Too many to talk about yet.

Farthing was there. I found him at the Shakespeare table gobbling up bushels of coins.

Avarel showed up as I was leaving. Good for you finding that 1927 3d!

Met the dynamic duo of Civitas as well. Picked up a couple of pieces there.

    Pictures coming later.

As for the SA, I didn't really get all that much - just a 1953 set and a few 1960s. Don't consider me any serious competition. I like the ship reverse on the ½d and 1d and the farthing reverse too. Also, I've always wanted to go there.

Yea, I beat both of those coin hogs through the door today. Wybrit was late to the show 'cause he was out selling blood to raise funds.

I feel sorry for the poor drunks on Hennepin Ave. that he was getting the blood from though. image

No you only beat me to the Shakespeare table. However, I'd already picked him clean of all the good stuff back in 2003, so I went elsewhere first.image

Convinced the wife I needed to head back 'just' to make sure I didnt miss anything. Cleaned upon on some nice 1972 Canadian Case Dollars, probably the best toners I have. Also the first time I've ever had a dealer explain he made a pricing mistake after we had agreed on a price and gave me the difference. Cant say I ever had that happen, but he did get more business out of me on my last pass through the joint.

I went back as well and picked up some more SA coins. Added a couple of farthings in as well. There were a bunch of boy scouts there, probably working on the coin collecting merit badge. Nice bunch of kids.
