WHOOPSIE!!!! Hit enter by mistake. Now to the post...............
I met a dealer at the Ohio Coin Expo last November and spent some time at his table talking about an area which interests me and made a small purchase. He had several items in his showcase and indicated that he collected actively in the area and would be interested in selling off his collection, both raw and holdered. He gave me a business card which listed his name and residence, Tony Cass in Columbus, Ohio with a street address and telephone number. After several weeks I phoned him at the listed number and spoke for about ten minutes about our previous encounter which he remembered.
I subsequently sent a letter in mid December. Shortly thereafter during a PM session with a forum member from the Columbus area, mentioned the dealers name. He checked around and found nothing at the listed address and no shops or dealers with that name. He couldn't even find a listing in the general white pages.
We had made a tentative plan to meet at the next Ohio Coin Expo which was a few weeks ago. I was scheduled to work and since I had received no reply to my letter I made no plans to attend the show. Today I received the letter I had sent, postmarked December 11th and with a sticker stating not deliverable as addressed--unable to forward with an additional Red Stamp which indicates the address he'd given was a drop at a Mailboxes Etc. location.
Very puzzling to say the least. Why have business cards made, transact a sale at a major show, engage in a phone conversation and then refuse acceptance of a letter or fail to contact an eager buyer?? Am I missing something or just daft??

Looks like the guy was a vest pocket dealer who gave up and went out of business.
Am I missing something?
