The owner has known my dad for 20+ yrs and he shows me partial partiality.He let me pick through all his 64 proof sets for AH Kennedys.Did'nt find any but he had one that was unopened.He let me have it for same as the opened ones.$11.I'm sitting here now wandering if I should rip into it or put it on the bay for a small profit.

Also got a dark toned BU Morgan and a BU Peace,nothing special but they appealed to MY eye.

Opening it would be tantamount to actually driving a new car after buying it.

Right now, you have a beautiful unopened manila envelope. If you open it, you could end up with just coins.

Honestly,I only thought the ebay thing for about a half a nano-second.If it's in a sealed manilla envelope and I own it,those babies can look forward to seeing the light of day for the first time in decades.
So,I opened it.
No AH,no cams.
But some pretty coins non the less.

I got five "unopened", (note the use of quotation marks), sets in today. All five of the halves had very strong cameo reverses - and brilliant obverses. Ah, but alas, it is the thrill of anticipation. Who cares if I actually find anything.

I think I have the answer to everyone's problem. Get some boiled water going and steam the envelope open. Who knows, maybe you'll get some cool toning going in the process. Yeah - that's it - use SALT water. If you don't like the way they look after you open it, just close it again

That was going to be somewhat what my suggestion was going to be. Open in such a way, examine the coins and if you don't like them, just reseal and you have an "unopened" set again that you can sell to someone else who like buying a pig in a polk.
