Another Morgan question for you guys. New pics added JB

Once again I have to plead ignorance with Morgan's as I am just starting with this series. Why did this only grade ANACS MS61 DMPL? What am I missing here as I would see a 63(on a good day of course)

ANACS grades by luster. Line it up next to 58, 62, & 63 ANACS morgans and the difference may pop right out.

  • The reverse looks good but from the pics the obverse looks like the hair is worn just a bit above the ear and looks like a mark on the cheek? Also a mark on the S.image

It seems like there is a bit of chatter infront of the face and the marks on the cheek.
  • a lot of "cloudiness" in the fields

I thought CC Morgans were given a little leeway in grading (like a point). This coin should at least be a 62 maybe 63. The strike is decent.
A 61 would be slightly less baggy than a 60.
    Maybe the scan is deceptive...
Now I see its a DMPL. Any little bag mark is amplified by those mirrored fields.
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!
