Mastronet Hobby References

Is Mastronet really picky about the hobby references they ask for? I went to register with them and was caught off gaurd by the request. Will any of the major dealers do? Is there anyone I should NOT put down as a reference?

Don't use Jay as a reference. That automatically raises a red flag!

I'll bring some other PSA slabs that are in my "for testing purposes only" pile! You can do whatever you wish with them!

Cool! Bring some that have value, and they will go right into my pocket. As that is the best place for them ...jay

just spend $50k in cards over the next month or so ( 15 cards or so ), and use the folks you buy them from as a refernece like we all did.
It is silly implying you must have purchased from auction houses before to be reputable.
I disagree. Without providing references, this leaves auction lots more susceptible to bidders who have no intention of buying or have had a change of heart after the hammer comes down. Registering with references does not guarantee 100% success, but it helps a great deal.
Speaking of mastro, does anyone know when the catalog is coming?

then i guess cars dealers should do the same thing even if you have cash.
That is a different situation. How would Mastro know if you have cash? Or recognize you as a bidder with intent to pay. Mastro needs to verify this. I used Superior and another PSA dealer for my reference. I am sure that if I renegged on my bid, both references would hesitate to let me bid or purchase from again with them, as they may be contacted.
Credit is based on three fundamentals: Stability, ability and willingness to pay. Car dealerships will get this info from a credit report. Mastro cannot, as they do not have the functionality or right to see if you are a credit risk. They do not sell on credit. So why should anyone be allowed to bid just like anyone can buy a car?
If you buy a car and do not pay for it, your car would get repossessed. The credit score would be affected, thus making you a riskier loan.
For those of you who know me and are willing to be a reference, please e-mail me at the link below. Many thanks!
