If your not into circ. coins or 5 figure coins are their any good values left in the hobby right now

What do you think ?

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

  • It depends if you want key dates or type coins. If you just want one of a series so you can look at the design (depending on the series) it can be fairly inexpensive. If you want a key date though, then it can get kinda pricey.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

I think there are many great coins left behind for various reasons. I think finding an outstanding set of war nickels with full steps would be a great and fun challenge. And if you can get some appalachian toned ones, it'd be a truly outstanding set.

Rainbow toned roosies are NOT a good value now...sell them and get into something better....image

Sorry, I never collected dimes in any series much, dimes for some reason are a denomination I never liked and that includes Barbers. Don't know why, I just never liked dimes.

type coins are nice. I dont collect by series anymore but do feel that some type coins have great value. AU bust and BU bust are always nice when affordable......i think they have no where to go but up. And if you get the better dates for type coins even better.

Jeffs are a nice set. If you try to put together a set of FS it can get tricky, but that adds to the fun.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Proof sets from the 50's and 60's seem to hold some treasures waiting to be found by the collector educated in these coins- heck even someone like me stumbled across a couple nice coins in proof sets. image mike

I may get burned for saying this, but I believe that the 1999 Silver Proof Sets, along with a few other proof sets, are a good value. I have heard other say that the 1999 Silver Proof Set will be a $1000 set someday, as more people get into collecting.

    Geoman,
I don't know about $1,000 for 1999 Silver proof, but I also think they will go up. Think ahead until 2008 when new collectors will be after 10 yrs of state quarters. Some sets have been cracked to be slabbed - how many will be left to meet the needs of new collectors?

I only have 1 set, but I'm hanging onto it.

Odd denomination type. Small coins, not very popular, not too expensive.

Since the advent of extensive coin trading by the internet the market has become much more effecient. As a result of this virtually everything now sells at close to its true value vs. supply/demand. "Good values" are probably few and far between in today's market.
