Ever notice that PCGS's "milestone"...

8 millionth, 9 millionth coins are structured to be a big time coin; not another pr69 modern cent? Funny stuff!

Definately. Their 5 millionth coin was a 1913 Liberty nickel.

  • Maybe that's why they have a backlog on submissions. They held up everyone's moderns while waiting for just the right 8 millionth coin. image

Marty, my first thought when I saw the title of the thread was to say an MS Franklin, and then I immediately thought yes, it should be one of your AU58simage I still wish I could get the one you gave me last month (Thanks again), pedigreed "MadMarty".image

I can't see how it would not be staged.
  • Well, you can't blame them for taking 500-1,000 coins that are being sent
to get encapsulated and looking to see which the "best" one is. Of course,
it would have been cute if they had announced it was a low grade coin that
someone had sent in "just because".

    say it ain't so!

  • I think everybody notices that.
The 10 mill coin will be a pretty special one I am sure.
But it makes sense if you think about it.
You want these events to be "special" so if you are sitting there with a MS65 state quarter and a MS69 Morgan....you pick the Morgan to be the whatever-millionth coin.
Wouldn't you do the same thing?
  • I see no harm in it at all.
Good publicity and marketing I think.

When you now send in one million common coins, your'e almost sure that you have the 10th million.......

    Is a bit expensive

One of the dollars I submitted several years ago came back with a number like 5800000. Maybe it was the best coin that day or week. Probably not, although it was a very nicely toned MS66.
