Hello,
I want to post pictures of my cards for my 1959 Registered collection and whenever I go to scan them and alter the size it always comes out huge on the PSA website. Any advice would help. I really want the picture to be card size, or at least a little bigger. I don't like it that when I view a picture I posted I have to arrow down to see the entire picture.
Thank you everyone!
Jeff

I have the exact scanner as you and do about the same. What you said about JEB is actually the best answer.
JEB has tought me everything I know about pictures and is a very cool person to deal with...
Jeff, 1420, JEB's email is on all of his posts, I bet he will be on this one soon.

<< <i>My HP ScanJet won't work now that I have XP, even after downloading a driver off of HP's site. >>
I had the same problem 2 years ago. I now use a different computer running Win 98 2nd edition for scanning and printing. Not sure why HP can't update drivers in 2 years time.
JEB.
HP wants everyone to "upgrade" their HP scanner
rather than just the drivers....

With that there should be a section on cahnging the size, dpi, colors etc. for the opened picture. BEFORE doing that make copies of all the originals and put them in another folder and work off copies.
If you do not have one of those programs. Let me know. You can either post here or email/PM me.

This will be a smaller, more manageable file and I don't think you'll lose resolution.
Hopefully this helps.
Good Luck

If you use a paint program to reduce the size of a scan, the scan will get fuzzy. It is much better to just scan it right in the first place.
Not to mention that it takes a long time to mess with a scan after it's already made.
Any cheesy scanner should work perfectly fine.

It is pretty much a necessity when you collect/sell PSA cards.
I scan at 300 DPI and reduct 33% so all of my cards fit within the registry guidelines fine.

I had the same problem with my Canon FB 62OU, tried to d/l new drivers & scangear tools from their website.....nothing works . I'm resigned to buying a new one too Vargha, have it saved on my want list at Amazon. I think it's an Epson if I recall correctly.

Did I leave anything out?
Thank you so much for your help. That advice on changing the pixels is what helped. If your interested here is a link to my collection. Took forever, but well worth it.
Thanks again,
Jeff

Nice looking scans Jeff !

Nice start. Here are a couple of additional tips:
1. I believe you said you have an HP scanner - try selecting the "descreen" function before scanning. It will give the scan a smoother look without all of the lines.
2. Try scanning with the lid of the scanner open in a dark room. It really adds to most cards (dark bordered cards excluded).
Here's a new one from my collection:

JEB- you are such a show off ......NICE CARD (or rub off) !!
See what you're missing. Believe it or not, I actually bought that card raw on ebay for $6 or so!

I am still having problems here. There is not a way to adjust dpi on my scans, and I have set at 6,12, and 25%, I have selected everything from lowest to highest compression, and tried everything in between. What's next?
