Should pictures be allowed in sigs?

flaminioflaminio Posts: 5,664 ✭✭✭
Massive pictures are starting to jam me up. Is it just me or do others feel this way as well?

I'll look at this thread later to view all the large pics that are certainly to follow.

I believe that you can go into your profile and set your options not to view certain things and those may be one of them.

this has been talked about NUMEROUS times.

    Pictures are here to stay.
  • I don't mind them..I kinda like seeing 'em myself...

  • I won't vote yes or no to this poll. Instead, I'll vote for moderation. I like to see some of these pictures, but if they are too big or too many, they slow my connection down too.
  • Yes.
  • Yes, they are allowed also! But, there are guidelines that are to be followed.....Guidelines
    .
.Edited to add, that, I just realized mine was about 5% bigger than allowed and changed it. I challenge the rest to do the same before it becomes an issue and gets changed for you!

Like ksteelheader posted the link to:

The pictures in your signature lines need to be kept at the following dimensions.
    200 x 400 and no larger than 20k.

  • How could you say no to pictures with the two you are showing flamino ? This poll is rigged. image

I would say yes with moderation. But if they became disallowed, I won't complain.

I just added those pix. The vote was swaying toward "yes", so I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon!

It'd be a-ok if people stuck to the guideline with one picture or a few pictures that were still below that size. But they don't. In fact, half the pictures in this thread are bigger than the limits Carol put forth. Multiply that by hundreds of downloads and you are literally wasting away the poor dialuppers lives!

Put the bouncy girl back up! image

The car is 24k and you are 6k - still 10k over the limit.... not to be anal about it, but I don't think people realize how big their pictures are. And what good does it do to stick beneath the limit but throw up multiple pictures?
  • Yes!! image

I used to have a pic of Shania Twain as my sig line. This seemed to cause more emotion than I would have expected. So I removed it. I think if

you have a cool pic you want in your sig line, have at it. No problem here.

Yes, I absolutely believe that sig pics should be allowed. They add flavor to the message boards. Actually, I think that there should be lots more of them.

I honestly think that some people wouldn't be happy unless the boards were a barren, text-only wasteland...no user icons, no sig pics, no images of any kind. Kind of like the old format of the CU message board. Certainly, the content was the same, but it was utterly without character. Believe me, this FuseTalk3.0 board is a huge improvement. I haven't seen another type of message board that is this user-friendly or visually streamlined/visually appealing.

You all should be grateful that the nice people at CU have given you this opportunity and provided these nice message boards.

    Now quit your complainingimage

I agree with the Steelheader. The pics are usually interesting and even sometimes we can see what we look like.

I'm somewhat surpised that the restriction isn't built into the forum software that would automatically shrink the pics to the maximum size. This is done on a lot of other forums.

You can always turn them off in your browser.

  • I also like the sig line pics, but feel they should stay with the stated rule size. However, I don't like the bouncy girl and I hate the guy scratching his privates. What's bad is if a person has a giant and/or a lot of large pics in their sig line, and that person posts over an over again to the same thread, and you have to load and look at those pics a million times just to read that one thread. - from a dial-upper in the boonies with no source of relief. And NO, I don't want to turn my pics off in the browser - tried it and would rather have them so I can see the purdy coins! Moderation is the word - some people are just bound to be abusers of the system.
  • XpipedreamRXpipedreamR Posts: 8,059 ✭✭
Also, once you've downloaded them the first time, they're on your hard drive. You don't have to download the pics every time you encounter them.

I have dial up BigE and it doesn't bother me even if I have to wait 30 minutes. If it's something I'm not interested in looking at I just use the customizer and cancel the pics for that particular thread so I can just read the post and then reinstall after I'm finished.image

Pictures on the site are cool, but pictures in the signature line get boring very quickly. Take the bandwidth and TELL about your coins, why they grade the way the do, history behind them, etc. Leave overly boring pictures off.

Yes, but I voted "no" anyway. Most of the pictures aren't too bad but some
take so long to load that I'll avoid the thread.

Bob, you are going to post a link to that picture over on RCC so the RCC'ers get to see it, aren't you?

I don't mind sig pictures as long as they are reasonable, and within the limits Carol set here about a year ago. However, I know of at least two people here, who were here then, that reduced their images at the time, but have since gone back to images way in excess of Carol's limits.
