  • You don't have to grade (or make tons of different labels) if everything is a 69/70 coin.image

People with very high grade coins tend to submit them to the most respected, "classiest" services for grading and encapsulation.

The public has spoken. Obviously, SGS is the peoples' choice for their finest coins. The lesser coins end up in PCGS and NGC holders.

Maybe it was a bulk submission that got pre-screened so that only the 70's were slabbed.

    ...but probably not! image

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Still not as bad as NTC.I have a picture of a bust half or dollar? That they graded XF40 but the best it could be is VG8.But SGS is the absolute worst with MS/PR coins.

They are "Americas Grading". Is that America's Grading Company?

I wonder if it is more challenging for companies like this to actually locate the slabbing equipment and get a post office box for business than it is to actually grade the coins?

  • C'mon - what's the big deal? Y'all are SHOCKED!!, SHOCKED!! to find overgraded coins in these holders!?!?

Last week I bought a 1916 Merc in MS66FB in an Accugrade holder. FB - yes, MS66 - not even close! Maybe (hoping here), a 64 at PCGS. Paid next to nothing for it and it is maybe a what, $30 coin?

But, I was not shocked that Accucrap had it at a 66. Don't we all see this stuff at every show, not to mention ebay?

We gotta respect a company that gives

the people what they want.Once you believe

that the US Mint is perfect in every way, then it

becomes natural to grade every coin it produces

    as MS or PR-70.image

    This is SGS, not SEGS.
    All glory is fleeting.
  • Here is something interesting:

If you do a SGS ebay search in Coins there are 850 auctions. Search Here

If you do the same search eliminating 70's (MS70, PR70, etc) ..... Search Here

    There are 8 auctions left....

Of course, these are all 69's ! image
