Germany (Westfalen) 1923, Gilt 10,000 Marks

I just ordered this because I thought it has a cool design. I know it is German but does anyone know anymore?

I have afew of these and I like them. One of them has doubling which is pretty wild. These coins are fairly common and usually sell in the $5-$30 range depending on condition.

These are pretty common.. at every coin show there is always someone with the entire set sprawled out. (same guy I think) These go from 50pf to 1 billion M--24mm to 60mm, just fun to look at.

There are varieties for most denoms. For that 10K there are two:
The first, Jaeger N20a, has high relief and a big rim; is made of CuZn and weighs 31.5g at 44.5mm; mintage 316K--M&P prices=€32/st, 20/vz-st, 15/vz (BU, AU, XF).
    Second, J N20b, mintage 200K, has low relief, a narrow rim, made of CuSn, 33.5g and 44.0mm--M&P prices=37, 25, 17.

    M&P = Münzen & Papiergeld magazine.
  • The Mr. Burns character from the Simpsons appears to have been modeled after the guy on the obverse.
  • Well, according to KM it is one of the more popular designs and Germancoins.com recently sold a few, I bid but then was outbid... And congratulations on another outstanding coin!image

I used to have one like that but the denomination was 50,000,000 marks. I gave it to my brother so he could start saving for his retirement.image

Hey Spoon, if you find the 1923 5 million or 50 million pieces in gilt bronze with the denomination in three lines let me know. I believe those are the only two I need.

No problem. I'll be going to the Karlsruhe show in two weeks so I'll keep an eye out for you. image
