If I want to start a registry set....Do my coins...

I thought I read somewhere that they allowed NGC coins as well..Is this correct?

I prefer the PCGS registry format better. The NGC format requires more steps and is a little harder to use. NGC weighs coins based on indivdual grade. The PCGS weights only really count in the higher grades for most sets (i.e. if you don;t have top grades, you aren;t in the running anyways.)

I knew I had read somewhere that either PCGS or NGC accepted both.So far my set consists of four different grading company slabs.I guess I'll have to try to get some crossed over.

Sounds like PCGS is the way to go then..

I collect a little bit of everything.I'm trying to focas on my Bust Half set now.I really like all Bust coins.The next set I probably will work on will be the Large cent.I've had a hard time sticking with with one series.I seem to constantly get pulled from one type to another whenever I find/buy a really nice coin.I've completed most of the modern sets and am working my way back to the earlier types.

Trying to cross coins is sometimes an expensive and frustrating experience. The NGC registry might be a better place for you if you have mostly NGC coins.

I am trying to cross 21 coins from NGC to PCGS. The main reason is that I am building a registry set in PCGS. I have the results for two of the coins that did cross -

1939 Washington Proof 66
1953 Washington Proof 68 Cam

Keeping my fingers crossed for the rest which are pretty high grades.

prooflike, it isn't necessarily true that only high graded coins belong in the PCGS registry. You can enter ANY PCGS coins you have regardless of grade. The fun is in collecting a registry set, not necessarily having the #1 set. At least that is my opinion and the way I collect within the Lincoln cent PCGS registries. Good luck. Steve

PS. Every grade counts in the weighing of PCGS registry sets. (ie)
A 63 grade counts more than a 62 grade.
