Modern error gurus...value help question

I was looking at a 2003 proof Sac error today. It is a strike-through. There is a small circular pit below the 3 in the date. The diameter of the pit is about equal to the height of any of the numbers in the date, maybe a tiny bit larger. It is struck through some foreign matter, a small amount of which is retained in the bottom of the 3 in the date.

What would you expect to pay for such a coin? Thanks!!!

  • This type of error is worth, in my experience, about $5 (full retail).

Maybe a dollar or two above the value of a regular proof, I personally would not even be interested in such minor error.image

Part of the fun in error/variety collecting is the hunt. I love finding them myself. As for market value - the real unusual ones command a premium directly linked to its unusualness(is there such a word). I have been offered 5-10 bucks for a lot of my Lincoln errors ( strike thru/filled dies/die breaks etc ). Some are just cool and I have no idea as to their value, like this crying Lincoln lam break that looks like a teardrop.

That teardrop Lincoln is really neat. Is the first pic in black&white? It doesn't really look like it, but why is it so silver colored?

I took that pic using a reveal bulb. No color adjustments at all. It is a full red example. I never had a red Lincoln color that way before. I like the effect of that color though. The reveal bulb really brings out the accurate fields on the coin, you can truly see every mark on the coin.
