Pulled a 4 color A-Rod game used patch...DAMAGED!

Got this nice four color A-Rod patch 20/50 out of a pack of Fleer Showcase. It had 4 dinged corners and paper loss about half an inch across the card near the swatch. Now I gotta spend money to send this card via registered mail to them. Wonder what they will do, since I want this same swatch piece and I don't want a hand numbered card. They also owe me for my shipping fees to correct their huge screwup. I can't believe they missed such a huge defect.

Have you talked to anyone at Fleer about this. I sure wouldn't just be
sending in a card and hope it gets fixed the way I wanted. I would call
Fleer and see if you can talk to someone and then have the card mailed
directly to them so they would know what was going on when they get it.
And have them sign for it when they get it, so you know that person
actually has the card in there hands.

I called at 4:40 on Friday afternoon, but I guess at Fleer working until 5 doesn't mean much to them.

I don't think you have any chance at getting the patch put in a new card.

They are gonna to have to get me something just like this or return the card along with another good patch. These are made by hand, and the fact that some employee just let this go into a pack is sickening.

  • You will probably get a single color or 2 color in return....

Why would they send a single color jersey piece which would not be of equal value back when I sent in a patch?

they don't consider multi color patches to be worth more, how do you figure that they are hand made?

A human has to actually fit/attach the jersey piece to the card. They don't have single color jersey cards numbered to 50 like mine in this set. They always replace cards for equal ones, and the only cards numbered to 50 are patches like this one. One would assume quality control would be high on rare cards like this.

People dont put the patches in- theat would take forever. They can give you any card from any set.

  • I agree they will send you same card probably not with 4 colors and throw a couple packs in with it thinking that makes it better--these card companies have the worst customer service of any industry

    I would be upset also.

BUT you are not (trying to say this in a way it wont seem to offend so dont anyone take it the wrong way) "promised" a certain valued card. Now before someone mentions the lottery, the lottery is you have the numbers or you dont. Meaning if you win the lottery and the card is destroyed you loose. So if they gave you a pack of the same value as the pack with the damaged card you are out nothing you did not "pay" for in the initial purchase.

Im not saying they will do this. Im just giving a whole new angle on it.

    Good Luck.

  • Honestly they will give you whatever they have in their supplies. If they don't have a replacement A-Rod they will give you other cards of value that they deem equal to your card. They personally don't give a crap about how many colors your patch has...they will give you whatever card. Now some patch cards are better and other suck (single color). The odds are against you getting a patch equal to yours. My suggestion is sell this one and buy another patch card. The multi color patch should get you some good money (even if the card has damage)

  • Odd. I pulled an A-Rod patch too from this stuff, and when I opened the package, the card was stuck to the pack, and when I opened it, part of the face of the card pealed off and stuck to the package.
  • I also dont think Fleer would actually take the swatch out or look for another one equal to yours. If they have replacements they will just grab a random one. They won't go through them to pick out a nice one.

Well if I get screwed (get sent some junk) I'll just file a small claims suit for $150-200. They'd never send a lawyer 8 hours and have them spend the night for $200. No defendent would equal a judgement in my favor.

Since they due a large ammount of business in every state, by law I am not required to travel to their local court since they are not a small business.
