I just love rookie investments !!!!!

Anyone catch Cole Hamels in his one inning today against the Yankees?

Struck out Derek Jeter...whiff

Struck out A-ROD...whiff

Struck out Tony Clark...whiff

Struck out the sides....

I know, I know, its only Spring Training & pitchers should be ahead of hitters, but his 1.34 ERA from Class A was no mistake, he pitches with total poise and control, is #17 on Baseball America's top 100 prospects list, is the highest rated player in the Phillies minor leagues including Gavin Floyd.......and I own 8 of the 50 B.C. gold refractors of this guy and about 100 raw and 25 graded PSA 10/BGS 9.5 etc.....

I started buying in 2002 !! Not like Rios whose recent support has sent those cards so high, but in 2002 when I did my homework.

So, it will be frustrating knowing this kid is ready now and the Phils will keep him in the minors all year because they don't rush pitchers.....but wait till next year.....cha ching !

  • Unfortunately I was at work, but my business partner called me right away when Hamels did that nastiness on two of the best players in baseball history. I wish I could've seen it, he said that his fastball was 94 MPH and even though it was straight he had perfect control to paint the corners. Then his strikeout pitch was an 84 MPH change, pretty nice for a 19-year-old.

How about James Loney though? As a 19-year-old in the first two Dodgers games he has gone 5 for 5 with a HR, 2 doubles, and 5 RBI's! We got some great youngsters on our hands here. Jose Lopez might actually get a serious look too for the Mariners SS job over Aurilia, although he went 0 for 3 in his debut yesterday. Should be fun to watch Spring Training box scores.
