Question to vintage pack collectors

Curious, what's the oldest unopened pack - cello, rack, wax - known to exist (with the exception of t206 packs that MAY contain cards.)?

Were Topps Venezuelans distributed via wax packs, ever seen any for sale? What about 1965-1969 OPC, ever see any of those?

There are some pre-war non-sport gum packs known to exist, but I think the only pre-war baseball packs known are tobacco. What would a '33 Goudey sell for? image I have no idea about the Venezuelans. I haven't seen any 60's OPC either, but I don't really collect baseball. The earliest football OPC pack I have is '71.

48 bowman basketball is the earliest I know of. also seen 51 bowman baseball. I heard mrMint had boxes of 48-49 leaf but I was out of the hobby at that time so I don't know the details of that one.

I have seen a '48 Leaf baseball pack, so at least one survived Mr. Mint's greasy fingers.

Why do you characterize Mr. Mint as "greasy"?

What are the overall sentiments of the board on him. He seems to be a high-profile, fun-spirited guy in his ads. I could see where some folks could be envious of his position in the hobby, as he's got a high-profile.

I only saw him one-time in person at a Bloomington Minnesota show at the Thunderbird Hotel in the late 80s. He didn't have any cards at his table outside of his business card and was just moving around the show floor.

It also seems that he's not an advocate of graded cards. If so, why?

    Enjoy your collection!

He's not an advocate of graded cards because he can no longer deceive people. He's also a pushy bully, and his beliefs change with the wind. He was a stanch anti-slabbing guy until SGC paid him $100,000 to be a spokesman. He went back to being the raw messiah when SGC refused to pay him more than he deserved on a deal gone bad. There have been many threads on him that describe his true colors better than I can.

Most people dislike Mr. Mint - include me in that group.

There have been anecdotal (and confirmed...) stories of people pulling a) T206 cards from packs and b) even an Old Judge baseball card from a pack (SGC even graded it as "pulled from a pack"). Given that was 115+ years old - that woudl take the cake.

1948 Leaf is the oldest I've seen recently...
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
