Poll: Should there be no signature lines with links to Ebay auctions?

a continuation of the other poll.

Most of the coins I post are for sale but I NEVER say they are for sale in the post. My signature line has a link to my Ebay auctions. If a coin is for sale then maybe we should have a rule of no signature line links to where coins are for sale.

That's kinda complicated reading for my tender brain, but I think I figured it out. Post what you want as long as you don't directly solicit a sale.

I'd rather see the links on peoples sig lines than to go to the b/s/t board and open threads (as I do almost daily) that read "FOR SALE" and find a damn ebay listing.

    JB,
The way you handle seems just fine to me, but I guess you can't please everyone. Sig lines with a for sale link don't bother me at all. I find the sig lines with BIG pictures annoying.

this place has been a safe haven from people selling coins in the past and I hope it stays that way. I know if it''s allowed to post pictures of coins for sale and have a link in your signature line many will be starting threads every time they list a coin on ebay image- some show disrespect and do this anywaysimage. mike

I like the way JB worded his answers so he wins no matter what you choose. I didn't choose any.

I guess it is ok to have a link until I post a pic. What a pain. image

    Jason,

You should have added "Who gives a rats rear". I'd vote for that one.

Posting pics of a coin that is not "advertised" for sale in a thread should not be disallowed just because a person has a blind link in their sig line. image Complainers with chips on their shoulders ruin it for the vast majority that really don't care if the coins are for sale or not...they just want to see great coins!

Sig line links to eBay and for sale coins are ok with me. You choices confused me so I wrote in my choice here.

As for sig line pictures: as long as they stick to Carol's rule of no more than 200 X 400 and @ 20K am I am fine with that.image

If you truely want to show nice coins for the sake of showing nice coins just wait a couple of days for your ebay coins to be sold then post some pictures after the coin has sold and no one can accuse you of using these forums for advertising your coins. mike image

SportsModerator made it quite clear. USE the BS&T boards. That crap is not allowed here!

I don't understand the poll answer choices given, or how they relate to the original question in the thread title, but to answer the question...

<< <i>Should there be no signature lines with links to Ebay auctions? >>

I strongly support the placement of links to eBay auctions in sig lines. I encourage all board members that sell on eBay to include these links.

Because of these links, I have been able to purchase some great coins from some great sellers that I otherwise would never have known about.

Also, because eBay only allows thirty favorite sellers to be stored on the "My eBay" page, I cannot store all the sellers whose auctions I would like to regularly check. And I certainly cannot remember the eBay names of all the board members that sell on eBayimage

I also do not mind a sig line pic of a coin for sale, as long as it is not a huge, obnoxious picture that causes dial-uppers to start whiny threads about about large images in posts. I find these more annoying than any amount of "Coins for Sale" sigsimage

The only type of posting I would find unacceptable in the US Coin Forum would be blatant "Coins for Sale" post with no other content in the body of the post. These should clearly be in the BST forum. Otherwise, what's the point of having separate BST and US Coin Forums?

As expected the sleazeBay sellers are all for it. If you want to see great coins for sale then look on the BST Board.
Links to auctions in sig lines are cool but pictures of "great" coins for sale on eBay is still spam because all you sellers will say your coins are great and should be posted on this forum.
I didn't vote in the rigged poll either.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • A link to e-bay auctions in sig. lines does not hurt anyone more then a link to a registry set or web page. It is not confused with the text of the message and is easily ignored.

I refuse to click on an ebay link, open threads by certain folk who clutter up the forum with pictures etc in their sig line. This is not a complaint its my right. For those of you who run their part time or full time coin business by posting in here with an ebay link, its ok but I am one of many who will not buy from you. If any of you think this is whining, well I could care less. image
