Well, I was at the money pit buying supplies and trying to stay away from the wax. I did look in the clerance area to see if I could find a cheap anf fun rip.
Well, I saw something interesting.
2003 Flair Greats. They had 2 boxes, one open and one sealed. For those that don't remember this product, there was an interesting twist. Hobby stores could get a limited number of "Home Team Edition" boxes. These boxes would feature one of 5 teams (Yankees, Dodgers, Cardinal, Red Sox, and I forget the other). These boxes ONLY would have a bonus pack with 4 cards not available in regular packs, and 1 GU cards (again, only available in these limited packs). My store had gotten the Yankee version and was charging and EXTRA $50 for that box. These boxes would be sold sealed only. Well, I noticed that the sealed box was the Yankee HT edition ($100). The loose packs were $3.99. And I see this:
Yep. A home team pack. Well, I wasn't going to let that pass me by. The common (non GU cards in this pack books for $8 or more each).
Well, I pull this:
Turns out to be a SP (150 cards made). BV: $80!
The other cards in the pack were
-Reggie Jackson (BV $8)
-Whitey Ford (BV $8)
-Roger Maris (BV $10)
-Babe Ruth (BV $15)
So, the total BV $121. Not bad for $3.99.
And the Maris has found a home in my HOF collection...
