Basketball coming soon $500 a Pack

This news was on one of my wholesale sites, absolutely crazy:

Upper Deck plans a basketball release that will carry a $500 SRP for five or six cards from the Exquisite Basketball line, due in May.

There will be autographs, limited patches and other relic pieces in the set. The top card from the Exquisite set will be Lebron James' signed patch rookie card, numbered to 99.

Besides the $500/pack product, Upper Deck also announced that no hobby releases with have an SRP under $2.99 going forward.

    Time to tell Upper Deck where to stick it! My card shop owner just got back from the card conference in Hawaii, and he really let the reps from UD and Fleer have it! Said he had been selling for 20 years and not once has a rep been in his shop to see how their products were doing or meet with the customers. Told them that they are so out of touch with collectors, and said what we have been saying about their customer service, it stinks! Gave them lot's of pointers on products, lol, I was proud of him....People just can't keep taking this, spending hundreds of dollars for mostly cruddy cards. Just don't buy their products til they change their ways, and write emails complaining!

    I believe I read about Exquisite BSK also and from what I read, it isn't $500 per pack, it is $500 for a box and each box contains auto patch rcs, autos, jerseys, etc. I may be mistaken, but the price and the name sound like what I was reading. And, honestly, I don't think UD would be stupid enough to put out a product at $500 per pack.

    LMAO; what a joke! Upper Deck had better step back & take a good long look at itself. Before they try to shove more overpriced garbage
    down the customers throat they need to fix the serious problems of poor customer service & even worse quality control issues.
    Just imagine opening one of those super expensive packs/boxes only to find poorly made cards with wrong Gu in them or cards that have been cut incorrectly. Then imagine trying to contact customer service at UD for help. FORGET ABOUT IT!
    Keep your hard earned money in your pocket or spend it somewhere else where you know the company actually cares about thier customers.
    Thank goodness for Playoff, Leaf, Pacific, Topps, Donruss & for hockey fans; Be A Player. These companies have always provided us with great customer service in a timely manner & continue to show how much they want our business. UD will be nothing but a bad memory if they don't do something soon.

    This hobby is getting pathetic anyways. Who cares about UD, not many people buy their crap anyways. Hopefully they stick and keep this crappy product in basketball and dont bring it over to football.

    the best card isn't even a 1/1??? Lets see....16 box case will cost around 8 grand..how many Lebron's
    numbered to 99 are you going to pull from those? Will there will 99 Ben Handlogten Auto rookies? Will
    there be Marcus Fizer relics? Will there be Lonny Baxter warm up pants?

    Im thinking so! Anyone who buys this will lose.

    I've spent some stupid money on packs in the past, but now way, no how, would I think of dropping that kind of coin on a pack.

    I miss the days when I could get 36 pack boxes for like $30 or $40. Any pack over $50 is just rediculous.
