Real or Fake Bobby Orr?

auction
I was wondering what to look for in a fake Bobby Orr RC? I know if it looks too good to be true it probably is. But i was wondering if there were any tell tale signs.

    There are so many fake Orr rookies on ebay right now.

    I'd say it's worth the paper it printed on.

  • Couple thing of note here;

    Perfect feedback is a good thing, however if you look closely nearly all of the transactions are non sports memorabilia.

    High bidder is kept private, Red flag right away

    Finally any card worth thousands is worth the minimal grading fee to ensure the thousands and increase your potential target audience.

    In my opinion I would not touch this card,
    good luck whatever you decide

  • Ive already contacted the seller and they are open to pickups as they dont live too far away. I know their deals are non sports cards. But if you didnt know about sports card grading you might not send it in either especially living in Canada and dealing with customs and everything. What i need to know is how to tell a fake from a real one if i can see the card in hand. I know about the Jordan RC and am pretty confident i can tell real and fake Jordan's. I just dont have any experience with Orr's.

    there all fake if they are not in a holder. and then you have to make sure it is a mainline holder. all the fake asa's are on ebay screwing people every day. I think you are nuts to buy one that isn't authenticated. be patient and buy a graded one even if the grade is low. it's better to have a low grade real one than a high grade fake. happy hunting
  • Yes, why bother buying a card like this unless it is graded by someone reputable like PSA? It's only fair to both the seller and buyer. The reverse colouring looks too white compared to the originals I have seen.

    Put another way, if this was a true NRM or PSA 7 Orr rookie, then it would be worth the seller's effort to get it graded because it would probably sell for double the $710 this auction supposedly ended at.

    IT"S FAKE!! MARK MY WORDS!!

    I am 100% sure it's fake! I have been collecting cards for a long time, and I know a counterfiet when I see one. And second of all, this seller is NOT a card dealer, and he covers his butt by stating that in his description. Take a look at what he wrote:

    << <i>I do my best to accurately describe each item and any faults/damage to items. I am not and do not claim to be an expert on each item listed so Please read descriptions and ask any questions before you bid! >>

    See what I mean?

    You should try to get ahold of grillo. I know he left these boards about a month ago (a loss to all of us, as he was one of the classiest posters here), but maybe he 'lurks' occasionally and will answer a PM. As I recall he knows quite a bit about fake Orr RC's, and should be able to tell you what to look for.
