I only wished they had better light in the cube where I can examine the contents of my safe deposit box I brought home a few coins to photograph. Below is my icon coin. It is an ice blue 1937 Buffalo nickel. I also have an angle shot on my proof Mercury dime. I'm saving another one to post tomorrow

The fields on that Proof Buffalo are really reflective, very mirror like. I bought that coin back in 1997. It was one of my first 'big' coins.

I went to the bank today too. I asked the kid teller if he had seen any interesting coins come across the counter. He got a big smile on his face and pulled out a Mercury dime. It was a 1940-s in fine condition. I told him a little about the coin. Then he got an even bigger smile on his face and said, "I got this too." He pulled a nice, natural Morgan dollar from his other pocket. It was an 1879-P in XF. I told him a bit about that coin as well. He said that a lady who had to be 98 years old had brought them in. He bought them both out of his own pocket for face value. He was so proud to have them, I didn't bother making an offer for the Morgan. Another collector born?

Thanks for the comments everybody! There is no doubling that is a reflection. The fields really are like mirrors. It was hard to get a decent photo. Based on the comments here the consensus grade is that this is a really nice proof Buffalo Nickel!

Lovely coins. The Nic is absolutely spectacular. The type 2 proofs after reinitiation of proof coins in 1936 had magnificent polishing. The apparent doubling of the five cents is interesting looking. At first I thought it was from double impression in the proof process on an absolutely perfect highly polished planchet but on "reflection" I concluded it is it simply a reflection on a tipped coin with the mirrored field. Carl what is actually on the coin? Oops, I see you already answered the question, soo solly.

Since I don't collect buff nics, I didn't realize how many 1937 PR 67 coins had been certified. I counted 546 from PCGS and NCG. There are 5 for sale in the Portland Heritage sale. At first glance non seemed as nice as Carl's.
