disclosure concept

I've been thing about this a lot.. Due to the fact that I have learned something about this hoppy, and due to the fact this is why I choose PSA. One of the reasons I joined PSA is for the knowledge that can be learned on these fourms.. Now my concept.. In the car business we have what is called carfax. I'm sure most have heard about this, most reputable dealerships offer this to there customers. Basically it shows the history for the time it was new to your purchase. If it's ever been wrecked, salvaged, miles rolled, etc. how many owners, etc.. It gives the customer "piece of mind".. Now my idea.. In fact I think maybe GAI has tried this or uses something simular. I'm not sure, I've never used GAI... OK, my idea would be that if PSA, or BGS even SGC crosses a card, why can't they include on the cert. verification who was the previous grader and grade.. PSA crosses a SGC 88 to a PSA 7 and both grades show up when you type in the PSA cert. The paper trail would stop if the grading company thought this was crazy. I think the top three and maybe a lower grade company would want to try it to gain respect in the hobby.. I mean it couldn't be very diffucult to do, just a little typing.. This would give a potential buyer a history of a card thats been evulated by different graders.. Nobody said i wasn't a little crazy.. Has this or could this be done, for the future of card grading??

GAI is working on an "Exemplar Service" which is basically what you are suggesting. If an SGC 88 crosses to a GAI 7.5, then the SGC flip would be on the back of the card. I believe the holder would be GAI, but that may be incorrect.

  • I don't think that is a bad idea, it would certainly help with keeping track of the flips. I think also that when a company flips a card it should maybe send the label back to the company that it was originally flipped from so that they could correct the population report. However, alot of guys who are not satisfied with their grades crack the card and resubmit. There would certainly be no way to track that. But, hey something is better than nothing. It might even give the card grading companies (if they paid attention) some true market data from their competition rather than just guess work. I don't think they will do it in earnest, it might make them look bad.
