Anyone planning on coming to Raleigh for the coin show this weekend?

It's at the State Fairgrounds in the Holshouser building - round dome shaped building near the back of the property - map

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

I'll be haunting the place both days.

Hmm. If I'd had a bit more advance notice, I might have!

It was a definite no until about 2 hours ago... now I'm not sure... I should know by tomorrow afternoon. If I'm coming I'll PM you Compa, and would look forward to meeting another forum member. If I don't attend this one, I probably won't attend one in Raleigh until the RCC show. We'll cross paths at some point in time.

For any interested NC'ers, my Club (Carteret Numis Soc.) hosts a show in conjunction with The North Carolina Numismatic Association's Spring Convention (May 7, 8, 9) in Morehead City, NC. The show is located in the Crystal Coast Civic Center on HWY 70.

It should be the largest NC show East of Raleigh this year.

  • I might have to stop by and check this one out. Anyone know if there will be many Darkside sellers there?

Hey Joe, thanks for the heads up about the show in Morehead! Hmm, going to a big coin show AND surf fishing all in the same day. Now that is a good trip!
  • I was wondering how can you find out information on some of the biggest coin shows / expos coming to your area? I live in the Mid-west - so I imagine little if any coin shows come to my area, I live about 6 hours away from Minneapolis however, is there anyone who lives in that area that knows of some good time to time shows that come through that way? I doubt there have been any to cross through Bismark - North Dakota, the birds even try to go around the state if they can possibly avoid it.

  • OK ... not many responses here

If you come to the show you can take a side trip and see the new statue of Andy and Opie Taylor of Mayberry RFD fame. It's just down the road at Pullen Park.

Compa, I'm still undecided on attending. There are usually a few Light Siders that go, and I think the most Dark Siders we have ever assembled in Raleigh is 5.

AFNCoin, the ANA regional coordinators should have solid info on all upcoming events/shows for their respective areas. Check your PM box for info on MN and ND/SD coordinators.

Shaman, do you surf fish along Atlantic Beach, FortMacon? Next time you are heading his way for fishing, PM me and I'm sure I can bore you while we cast. I'll let you keep my fish too.image

  • Joe - The last few years I haven't been able to make it to the coast at all image, but this year I'm going come hell or high water. image I'll definately try to hook up with you when I'll be able to head your way. I'll buy the bait. image

BTW, since it looks like we're gonna have showers tomorrow, that should be a good time to spend a few hours looking for fills.
