Oh, Anna............I'm gonna miss that girl!!

Well, there comes a time when you gotta say goodbye, even to a pretty face like Anna's. Besides, women come and women go.................er, I mean coins come and coins go, and when things look right it's always best to part company. She accompanied me on many trips, the most recent being down to Florida, and always proved to be a good companion and kept the guys smiling. Especially kranky, he seemed to derive quite a bit of pleasure in seeing her. Hopefully there wasn't some hanky-panky going on behind my back!!!

Here she is in a few different outfits, green and blue were her favorite dress colors, though she was quite stunning in the raw!! The camera really didn't do her justice. Maybe she'll show up again on another collectors arm. As for me, I'm enriched for having known her!!image

You're lucky you had her around for so long. I hear those Nevada chicks are pretty fickle! You know, frequently changing hands.

    hey JB

you have some homework and reading to do if you'd ask that question!! do a search on keets and ethics. it's much to long of a story for me to tell here............again.

I must not have been around when you discussed it, but I have a few observations.

Some people swear by the older green label coins, and pay a premium based on the label alone. That coin should have never been in a 66 slab with that hit in front of the mouth. I'm finding that the current blue label slabs with the bar code on front are the most conservatively graded PCGS coins, even more so than a lot of the rattle holders. Ask anyone who has cracked older PCGS coins lately and resubmitted looking for upgrades.

    hey Eric

i hate to dispute your opinion, but that "hit" isn't a hit, it's a planchet flaw. big difference.

Oh my! Anna Morgan moves on. Fickle little thing!

Don't worry, keets, I'm sure her new beau will take good care of her. Even though she is kind of snotty. image

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

That coin was sold to him as a "PQ 66+ DMPL" by one of the big DMPL collectors of these boards. Prior to that it was sold by one of the really big wimmin' dealers. Keets did receive what I thought was low level compensation for the grade guarantee. Surprised to see you selling here Keets!

.........and i came to be very fond of the coin during the time i owned it.me and my other beau are getting ready to break ground in April for our new home and with prices up, it just seemed a nice time to roll the dice, take my profit and use the money where it's needed. throughout the entire period i owned the coin, it taught me some important numismatic lessons, some lessons about human noature and some larger more important lessons about myself. women will do that!!image

the only negative thing about sellin' her is that now i have an opening in my already short denomination type set. i think i'll fill the void with a Lafayette or McKinley commem.

the coins grade seems to have settled into MS65DMPL. i will say this, it has---had---wonderful contrast and about as much as you could expect from mirrors. but then there's the mark................

OK, it's a planchet flaw. Planchet flaws will detract from the grade if they are in a prime focal area such as this. PCGS was right in downgrading that to 65DMPL, and I hope you were compensated for the loss in value.

    hey Eric

yes i was, but that isn't really what this thread was supposed to be about. for that type of stuff, search on keets or ethics and catch up on some reading.

i had just hoped to have a bit of fun in the spirit of mojorizin and mercurynut and put the saga of ownership and all that went with it behind me.

to that end, she did pay me some alimony but i opted for the lump sum as opposed to monthly payments. of course that prevents me from hauling her back into the court of popular opinion for an increase when her earning ability rises!!!
