Is that the stuff that turned out to be fake that was found in the early part of the war?

I had a series of the same pics sent to me from someone in Army channels. He got it from one of the troops involved in the seizure. I don't think it's the fake stuff, as it allegedly was Saddam's loot the was trying to move out of Iraq.

What I don't understand is how the bottom of the tanker could support the sheer weight of all those gold bars. Maybe Saddam's henchmen reinforced the understructure.

87 more of these tankers and we'll be out of the red! That's naively assuming the American taxpayers will be credited with this wealth.

  • In one discovery, they found the "gold" bars to be made up of copper and zinc and said it was probably melted down shell casings.

    OK...if real...that might be 1/10 of 1% of the world's gold supply.....so??

The one pallet load pictured would be roughly 36 million dollars.
