MS69? Good example of market grading

1945-S 10¢ Considering how "outrageously toned" pieces are valued in the marketplace, I find this to be a prime example of market grading. If this puppy had a bath, you'd readily see how this specmen isn't fully struck, hence would probably be a 66.

Would you shell out MS69 ducks for this?

  • It'd probally be a 67 at best at PCGS me thinks... the Merc in my sig line could go 6, but the toning hides some hits, and I think PCGS sometimes goes a little conservative on the grade, in case the toning is hiding hits... but mine also might be a 5 b/c the toning impairs the luster a little bit... *shrug*

how can you tell anything from that picture? that zoom thing on Heritage doesn't seem to be better than the old zoom system, it kind of sucks IMO. They used to have 2 pics and the second was an enlargement that was clear as a bell even on the Halfdimes. How long has this been going on?

    oops EDIT

Mr "dial-up" here just needs a little patience image that's a neat system they have image

  • How could it be a 69 without a full strike?

I would bet it would go ms68 at PCGS. I am sure that coin has been at auction recently. It looks familiar.
