Look at the funny email I got from Centsles today...

Actually, it's from "Centsles Coin Services Division <offers@independencecoins.com>"

<< <i>Congratulations #A_&_A_COLLECTABLES#!
You are one of the very few Centles Coin Customers who have been selected to receive this offer.

An extremely limited, historically significant, numismatic opportunity have become available for you. It would not be fair to have this event presented to all of our customers, because it would create a chaotic frenzy, and great disappointment for all those who would miss out. In an attempt to be as fair as possible, a selection process was implemented and you have been chosen to participate in this event. Within the next 24-48 hours, you will receive an e-mail announcing the meaningfulness of this event and how you can participate. A complete liquidation is certain. This will not be offered on the Internet, nor will a brochure be mailed out to you, just one notice. Only telephone participation will be accepted. We look forward to talking with you.

Sincerely,
Ray Hanisco
General Manager
Coin Services Division

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL - If you do not wish to receive future event or promotional information from the Coin Services Division of Centsles Coins, please send a blank e-mail to unsubscribe@independencecoins.com FROM THE E-MAIL ADDRESS THIS OFFER WAS SENT TO. >>

I don't get it. What's the connection between centsles and Independence Coin? I wonder if centsles knows about this?

Me twelve. I didn't think too much about it at the time. I didn't figure I was special. I still don't think too much about it. Kind of a yawner to me.

  • I dont know about you guys, but I think having "centsles" in the name of a business is too close to "senseless". The latter has proved "sensless" seems more appropriate too. I'd never do buisness w/them.

I liked this from their "About Us" page.

"Please understand, by placing an order with us, you give our coin specialists, and our coin specialists only, permission to call you on [special] offers, and waive any position you may have on a local, state or national "do not call list" for Independence Coin Services, Inc."

    Sounds ominous.

I've been reading all their pages on eBay for this statement, and I can't find it anywhere. Could you provide a link?

In any case, it's certainly buried out of sight. So if I've ever ordered from Centsles, I'm going to get this spam from them? I don't mind the email so much...I can certainly just delete it, and there hasn't been a high volume of email, at least not yet. But it's just really cheesy and slimy of them to claim that I'm giving them "permission" or "waiving my position" anything , just because they put this disclaimer on an obscure eBay page. What a load of crap.

I can't wait to see what this historically significant opportunity is going to be.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression - it's not on an ebay page, it's here, under the "Privacy Policy" heading, on the Independence Coins site that you linked to.

It's an offer to sell more of those 9-11 death coins in PCGS holders with american flags tags.

I replied by saying I was offended by their offer and would have nothing to do with "Death Coins" even if they were free.

So if you do buy anything from them, just send your own disclaimer back with your payment:

Please understand, by accepting funds in payment for an order from me, Independence Coin Services, their coin specialists, or anyone else my information is provided to, agrees to abide by any position I may have on a local, state or national "do not call list".
