Lint Inside A PSA Holder

I just received a 1982 OPC Nolan Ryan card (PSA 8) that I purchased on eBay and there is a piece of dark lint almost a quarter of an inch long inside the holder. At first I thought it was a mark on the card and I was a little more than upset that PSA would grade a card an 8 with a mark like that. Then it moved. And on closer inspection, it was a piece of lint.

My question, should I send it in and ask that it be re-holdered (minus the lint) and ask that it be done for free, or just get over it. Its quite distracting to me as it is right on the white border and I can't get it to move far enough into a darker area so that it is not as noticable (sorry, I'm not quite set up for imaging yet or I would put it on for people to look at and see for themselves).

Thanks.
Looking for Nolan Ryan PSA 10's.

Boy, that's like having to star at an ugly mole near someone's lip... the longer you see it there, the bigger and nastier it gets!

I think it's worth the try to get it re-slabbed... I have gotten some cards re-slabbed because of typos in the flip... they'll do it for free, but you gotta pay for the shipping so it might be worth it to send it along with another invoice submission (Re-slabs have to be on their own invoice)...

    Good luck whatever you decide...

PS: Nice icon! Did PSA/DNA authenticate that for you?
  • I'll be da**ed if there aren't two pieces of lint inside this holder. Grrrrrrr. image

Too bad it isn't game-used lint, then it
    might command a premium. image

I think that Keith is right -- they'll
reholder for free in this case. I have a
card in a BGS holder that has an eyelash
    stuck in there. Sucks...
  • Conforti,

Actually, I took the icon off of another page. I have a couple of certified autographs, but this isn't one of them.

I noticed that we bid on a lot of the same cards (very nice Ryan Master Set collection by the way). Good luck on your collection.

I wish I were as far along as you were. I've been buying a lot of raw low pop Ryans and sending them in to be graded (I missed the $5.00 special, wasn't paying attention to the date). I haven't had a lot of success on 9's or 10's on my own submissions up to this point, but I've gotten a few 8's, so I'm still looking for higher graded cards on those that graded below 8.

  • My 1972 Topps George Blands has a pubic hair in it. Lovely huh? At least it looks like a pubic hair. I got a little ill when I looked to close at it. I plan on sending it in even if I have to pay for it, which I don't think I should.image

    TexasHeatWave = goodcompany2000!

Whaddya know... we've been nipping at each other's tails for a couple months! Nice to know you're on the board! Thanks for the kind words about my Ryan set... it is 20+ years in the making! Some of the cards I had graded I've had raw for that long! It's been a lot of fun. Ryan has to be one of the best guys out there to collect! Some vintage, some modern, and some downright scarce! And he always in demand.

Your set is making strides. You're climbing the Registry pretty fast! I have lots of extras I'd be happy to email you on if you think you can fill in... I am wide open to trade! (I see you have two PSA 10 83 OPCs... mine is a 9 -- hint hint)...

Let's keep in touch as I bet we can help each other out. In fact, I did manage to get about 60 more Ryans out on the $5 special... quite a few dupes in there too. I'll let you know when I get my grades back... in the meantime if you're interested in any others, look me up!

Damn that lint! I know it'd drive me crazy!

  • I've had lint, fuzz or whatever show up in a few of my submissions, of course right in the middle of the card !! damn that cleaning lady !!

I have a copy of the rare '69 Clemente hair in holder variation. I think it 's a 1/1. It's been years and I still haven't sent it in to get fixed...just can't part with a 1/1. image

  • Con40,

I'd be happy to discuss swaps and/or outright purchases of some of your dupes. I don't have many dupes at this time, but I do have the two '83 OPC PSA 10's that I bought that I would be willing to work a deal on. Let me know what you have that you would be willing to part with. Obviously I'm after 10's where I can get them, but 9's are good in the harder to find Ryans, and 8's in the impossible to find Ryan's. Thanks.

As for the rest of the posts here, I must say that my lint is looking better now that I know others have pubic hair, nose hair and boogers in their holders. image ("I was sad that I had no shoes 'till I met a man who had no feet!")

dude in my opinion, just the fact that a card has come in contact with a PUBE would knock a PSA 10 down to a PSA 8..

edited to say maybe it would need a qualifier
