Another great-looking coin.
One observation/question: it seems that practically all of the 1940-P dimes I've seen have some weakness or flatness in the last 2 digits of the date. I'm wondering, does anyone have one with a fully struck date?

Nice coin, Luce.

Here's mine.
Though the date is well defined, the last two digits are flatter and do not seem have the same relief as the first two. The "1" & "9" are well rounded, like the "breadloaf" bands on the rev. Though the "0" is flattest near the rim, it never "blends" with the field.
I would call it fully struck, but there does seem to be a difference between the original relief of the first two numbers vs. the second two. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pics. It sure seems that full dates on the '40-P are the exception to the rule. It's not a problem for the D and S mint coins from that year, though.
Hang on to that one, Marc. It's a beauty, and probably a lot scarcer than most of us imagine it to be.
