What's the longest word on a coin?

I vote for the 17-letter German word "OBERBEFEHLSHABERS" meaning Commander-in-chief, on the Military Kopeks of 1916.

Can anyone think of a longer one?

    How about a Welsh inscription?
  • On a small Danish coin from 1842 the word "RIGSBANKSKILLING" can be found written in full. That's the denomination of the coin.

But "RIGSBANKSKILLING" is only 16 letters, and "OBERBEFEHLSHABERS" is 17, so JohnZ's word is still out in front!image

Pobjoy should make a commemorative with this Welsh town name.....

    Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

Maybe in a spiral design! Maybe they already have. image
  • I can't beat 17, but I can match it.

It would take at least a crown size coin to carry that inscription image

BTW, you sure you spelled that correctly?

  • I won it at the Kentucky state fair back in the 80's. Last year I traded it for a large (3 foot tall) stuffed Tigger. Oddly enough at the Arkansas state fair. I gave it (Tigger) to my daughter. I remember it because it means "Worthless" or something like that.

  • It had the word "floccinaucinihilipilification" around the coin on one side & a large "O" with the word "zero" inside the "O" on the other side.
