SMS sets why so???????????

Hi all I have two SMS sets 67 and 68. They all look like good coins butdo not have the cameo look i guess. They are all shiny but look the same? Not sure if it is just my sets but some of the other sets i have in the 60's lok the same way. It just looks like the profile just runs into the background not much definition.

The 1968 wouldn't be an SMS set as they were only made from 1965 to 1967. What type of packaging is it in? Celo or hard pack? If celo, it's a mint set, hard pack it's a proof set.

  • sorry it is 66 and 67. it is in a hard pack saying special mint set dime and nickle is pretty good profile detailed. the rest is not real detailed . just shiny and smooth looking

Some SMS coins were struck by polished circulation dies. Most of these were struck
on polished planchets and usually look pretty awful. They are a little scarce, but this
may be what you have. Most SMS coins look more like the dimes and nickels in your
set. A few appear fully PL.
