Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
  • Everyone has pretty much covered all of my responses except when I have
a question, members have posted answers( with outstanding pics) in minutes
that it would have taken me hours to research if I had the books.

I like the people, because we are kind of a big ol family, and I learned what a good coin is and how to spot a great coin. It's the pulse of the coin world IMO, and I use it as wisely as I can.

Given me a way to be active with this hobby at any time, day or night. It's a very rare day when I don't check in & catch up a couple times. A great "connection" to this great hobby.

There are some great collectors and dealers that make very helpful contributions here. I am going to cut through the crap and get to the bottom line... we are all better off with the forum than without it.

I totally second the Kat - absolutely so!!

  • learned that there are many closed minded people out there who think their collections, interests, etc are the only ones that matter and will flame anyone who doesn't agree with them. Also that unless you post a question that meets a hidden criteria, you won't get a return post.

Otherwise, some great trading partners and now and again some good deals on the BST board

  • An immense education every second I am on it.
  • Has taught me more than I could have ever learned on my own. Saved me money. Taught me I am an Addict

Hello My name is Dave and I am a Coin Addict. See, I can say that now.

No matter what the question, it has been answered directly and no one ever called me a dummy for asking it.

I have met some fine folks, I will meet more at the Balt Show weekend after next.

I purchased some coins from board memebers both here and on ebay. AND THE TOLD THE TRUTH, coins were as described always.

    Thanks to all of you.

I have way too much fun here

This forum has caused me to loose sleep by staying up past my bedtime. It has caused me to purchase the more expensive cable internet so that I can post faster. image

The biggest thing it that it has allowed me to spend much more of my time with "coins".

It has also shown me there are always more opinions and they're pretty much all different.
It has astounded me with the depth and breath of numismatic knowledge and sometimes
how seemingly mundane numismatic tidbits simply aren't known at all.

  • It has really made me look closer at my coins. I have grown to admire most of the posters here, and feel sorry for others. I get to see pics of coins that I know I will NEVER be able to own, and most of all I feel as though I have a second family here that will always "listen" even when I'm up late.

    Thanks guys!

  • I'll echo most other people's comments about learning about coins and enjoying them.

It is also a break for me. My wife has metastatic colon cancer and we are dealing with that the best we can.
Some call it an accumulation not a collection
  • Ya got a week...found some great people here on this board, that I could never say enough good things about.

Well since Anaconda is asking the question, one thing this forum has done for me is provide me with a different perspective on Anaconda's Ebay sales. Before being enlightened by this forum I could never understand why Anaconda offered coins were so high priced and seemed to have stratospheric reserves. Now I appreciate the fact that an "Anaconda Coin" is a coin of a special breed that some buyers are willing to pay more for because of perceived superior quality. I also learned that Anaconda now offers some affordable coins in more popular price ranges.
  • Tons of knowledge on coins, paper money, grading, slabs, toning, etc, etc.
Also led me into collecting paper money. Something I wouldn't have done otherwise.
I'd never even seen a "national" before this forum.
If it wasn't for this forum I probably would be buying things in the wrong slabs and cleaned junk and what have you.
