Grading proofs as opposed to business strikes...

Greetings, All -

I remember reading a while back that graders at PCGS don't use magnification; they just grade with the naked eye for the most part (true?).

If this is so, do they deal with proofs the same way? I was thinking that if they're more concerned with hairlines on a proof, wouldn't they need to look at a proof coin under magnification?

I don't know if they use magnification but,

hairlines can be spotted under the right light and by viewing the coin at various angles, rotating the coin as your viewing...

those nasty ol grade killing hairlines!

a women doesn't like hairlines for lots of reasons!
