The two movies that won the most Oscars were
    "Ben-Hur" (1959) and "Titanic" (1997).
    Both movies won 11 statuettes.

(Second place is held by "West Side Story," which won ten Oscars.)

<< <i>I purchase that dvd months ago - I guess I need to watch it. >>

    FYI
the film honored tonight, "Return of the King"
is NOT yet out on DVD (in fact it has only been
out in theaters for 1 weeks....)

The first one, "Fellowship on the Ring"
and 2nd one, "The Two Towers"
are both out on regular AND Extended DVDs

(You really should watch the first two before
you see the latest one or you will not really
    get what is going on.
    )

neither did I until he hosted
    Saturday Night Live and did
    many many jokes about it.

gay or not, I am not sure anyone else
could have done the role justice.

Joe...you're not homophobic are you ??

What does Ian McKellan's sexuality have to do with his acting in the first place ? Its not as if this role required him to be a credible straight guy.

I mean, this story is about Trolls and fairies in the first place, right ?

Anyway, his best role was in the 1990 real life true story from England in 1963 where he played John Profumo whose Conservative Party was brought down by the "Profumo Affair".

It is one of my top 10 movies of all time with John Hurt playing Dr. Steven Ward and Joanne Whaley-Kilmer and Bridget Fonda looking as good as any woman has a right to look as Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies respectively.

So, if you're looking for some adult fare with great period music and incredible acting with beautiful women, try watching Ian Mckellan as the Defense Minister who brought down a whole government with his affair with a teenage girl.

The movie is titled "Scandal" .
