In response to the post regarding acetone for cleaning PVC from coins the subject of ultrasonic cleaning came up.
I tried this once a couple years ago. I put the coin into a jar with distilled water, a dab of dish detergent and a bit of acetone. The jar was closed and put into a ultrasonic bath. the test coin was a common date circ Morgan with plenty of crud in the crevices. Frankly the coin looked really bland, washed out and bleached. Not pretty at all. Never had any cruddy ms coins to try so I can't speak for them. Anyone got one of each they want to sacrifice PLMK and I will do em for you.
