Has anyone seen a certified exampel? I would not buy a raw one as the redbook says counterfeits exist.link

  • Can you certify a counterfeit??? image

That's the counterfeit, and the tipoff is the mutilated "R" in EPU.

There's a page about the Henning counterfeits here but it's currently not working. I emailed their webmaster, so it may be working later.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • By knowing if any certified exampels were out there I would know if there were any authentic pieces.

I've never heard of genuine NMM '44 nickels except a passing mention in a thread
    sometime back.

    I have never seen one!

Maybe if Fred sees this post he will let us know!

  • Yes, all 1944 NMM's are counterfeit.
There is at least one 1942-S, with the reverse of '41 that is genuine.

I have recently redesigned the website and the article is now back online. You can find it here.

  • Mr. Taylor,
That's my favorite website. I have refered a lot of people to it, whenever they had a question concerning the series. I've learned quite a bit from it myself.
Thank you for all the hard work and extensive amount of research you've put in to it.

  • Great to see another enthusist! Thanks very much for the kudos. I could never find much about the Jeff series on the net and if I could it was scattered so I decided to put together this site. As I go thru the transition of changing over the pages to the new format I will be adding and changing a few things. If there is anything inparticular that you would like to see by all means let me know!

    Thanks again.
