Post a picture of a RARE date and grade thread

This is THE highest graded 1893 O Morgan anywhere. There are no coins even graded ms66 at PCGS and this one is a ms66PL. It is the finest known PL at PCGS by 3 points! NGC has graded one in ms66 and probably is this one.

can anyone name one of the previous owners of this coin?

Jason- That sure looks like the Eliasberg (1893-o) coin but I am not 100% sure. I believe that was previously in the Clapp collection. Truly a rare date and a rare grade. Is that coin currently on the market?

Very Pretty coins. This is kinda a difficult thread to post on unless you really have something special. I don't think my pr65 RB CAM NGC IHC can compete. It the only RB CAM 1869 graded by NGC. A pop-top of sorts.

Below is linked a description of a "unique" 1850 Proof-62 gold piece I own described as a "Presentation/PL" and pedigreed to Dr. C.W. Green. Interestingly the Green specimen was discussed by Breen with reference to his estimate that two or three proofs at most may exist for this first year of issue of the $20.00 gold piece. (I have a photo but it has too many pixels to post here so maybe I can edit and link it to this post tomorrow.)

  • Thanks for the info JB. I was so overwhelmed by the coin I lost my train of thought and just forgot to really look at it. What a beauty it is! image

  • Here are a couple of Dahlonega beauties: Both in the AU range - I think the one on top is a 58 and the one on the bottom is a 53.

That sure looks like the Eliasberg (1893-o) coin but I am not 100% sure.

Boiler - You are correct. It was still on the market as of Long Beach.

........highest graded PCGS of either Reverse---1938 or 1940---at PR67 and pop eight. the picture really doesn't do the coin justice and i'd argue that it's far and away the most eye appealing Rev. 1938 in holder. of course, i'm biased!!image

probably not rare in strict accordance with the numerical scale, but survivors are few and far between. my personal estimate is between 250-1000.

    image

more low pop's. estimates of course, the first 25-40 the second less than 15.

I wish this one was mine, but never-the-less, I do believe it barely qualifies for admission to this thread:

This one is in a very low grade, and is even signed and dated!
