  • Yes, very nice. The 1837 no stars dime and half dime are in my top three most beautiful American coins.

Nice au coin. Looks like there are hairlines, but probably not severe enough to get a bodybag. Unless they are harsher than the image suggests.

I love these "simple" designs like this particular one, and the Flying Eagle Cent as another. Nothing overpowering, but very appealing.

    45 all day every day
  • I say AU50. I've never graded one before. It has such clean fields.

I said 40, it's got 45 details yes and a great presence, but the marks are gonna net it down to 40, of course some would say bodybag i.e it's not a decent coin, but of course that's absurd. Some would net it down to VF but I think that's too drastic and I like the coin as a 40, very attractive!

Interesting, I was just looking at possibly bidding on my first half dime this morning. This meant that I was also looking at my ANA Grading Guide. Nice looking coin. Due to the rub just below the cheek, on the breast and thighs and the scratches, I graded it EF40.

    So what’s the grade?

At last count we had 8 votes for No Grade and 8 votes for VF-30, but one of those was mineimage
I hid the fact it was in a slab on purpose as to not sway the vote but then again the slab shows what might
be seen as hairlines that are not on the coin. Anyway my guess as to why it wasnt BB'd for the scratch on the reverse.
    1) It is pretty darn old
    2) It is a really small coin, that size hit on a Morgan would be minimal
    3) It is on the reverse
    4) oh well what the hey its a nice coin give it a VF30
So am I right? Wrong? Maybe? Thoughts? Anyone, anyone?
  • I was way off. I think it is a very nice coin.
