I never really got many cool coins back - most of them took a one-way trip! image

  • I'll be honest. I never pay them much attention.
The one time I ended up with 4 buckets of change for
a small jackpot, I went straight to the counting machine.
It never even occured to me to go through them.

    Found a few 64 Kennedy's.

  • Once in a while I'll come accross a Silver Washington Quarter.
The newer machines sometimes don't take them, so they drop back down.
  • It would be too overwhelming to go through all the coins in your bucket. I just happened to find a few old dates while feeding them into the machines. Nothing of any value, but just thought I would see what anyone had come up with.

Just got back from Vegas Fri. Night and the Sahara 50 cent machines all had 2001 D halves in them. They looked like they had just come from the bank. All nice and shiney. All the dollar slots had new tokens in them also. There was a film crew in there filming something and I guess the casino wanted all the coins and tokens to look nice on film. Never been a casino where all or most of the tokens and coins looked new. Cashed out 800 halves but didn't go thru them other than noticing thew were all 2001-D's.

  • I live in Vegas and I can tell you that typically the coins that come out of those machines aren't worth anything cause they get so chewed up going through machines, counters, etc,.. But every now and then you see something nice, recently found a 1968 proof kennedy (one big nasty scratch on the reverse)

I can just imagine some poor gambling addict opening a proof set to throw a couple more coins in the slots. image

I stick to banks for circs (found 3 silver roosies in a bank of Hawaii roll last week)

  • At the Detroit casinos, at least the MGM, you have to convert cash to tokens so you never play or win coins.

I can think of a dozen reasons not to have high capacity magazines, but it's the reasons I haven't thought about that I need them.
