cool idea

i know nothing about the grading company AGS (Advanced Grading Specialists?) but I just noticed that on their slabs, they have a flip in the top edge of the slab, as well as in the normal spot, which allows you to see what the card is even if its in a 2 row shoe box.. i dont know if i described it right, but I thought it was a cool idea.

i played ball with him in high school 93-95.. he went on to pitch for the indians and brewers for a couple years and got hurt.. i dunno if he's on a roster now or not.. but he has several cards out there (none of which are worth a crap)

edited to say theyre not worth anything, but I want them!

    That is cool.

Same thing with me sort of....

Chris Hammond and I grew up here in the suburbs
of Birmingham, AL (as town called Vestavia Hills)
where he was a Much better athlete than I ever dreamed
of being... His older brother had played for the ROYALS
years ago, and his younger brother also was drafted
as a Catcher to the Reds, but only Chris had a career
of more than a year or two.

He first got to the MLB with the REDS in 1990
then was later drafted by the MARLINS. After 3 years
there they traded him to Boston, but he hurt his elbow.
and went back to Florida, then retired.... BUT
like the movie THE ROOKIE, he was throwing with some other
baseball coaches for his son's teams practice and they
said he was doing great... long story short, he tried out
and made it with the BRAVES in 2002 as a reliever
(and won Setup man of the year from MLB.com and had
a modern era record low with a 0.95 era!) NY YANKEES
signed him last year but he struggled so they traded him
and this year he will pitch for OAKLAND A's.

and Yes, I collect the crap out of his stuff.
(game used bat, signed balls, bats, hats, cards, etc)
the only thing I don't have is a Jersey from him.

93-95 - you are making me feel old - I'm not going to say who I played with in HS - let's just say he was a great major leaguer and I stunk next to him - I was way, way, way, way on the other side of the bench!
    Great stuff tonite!

awesome.. yeah also played ball here (but at a different school) was Desi Relaford.. Chipper Jones played for the Bolles School here in Jacksonville (he's a bit older than me though.. )

Storm Davis (remember him?) is now a varsity football coach at my old High School.. his father was a football coach there also, and he collapsed and died during last years homecoming game...

Really great - can I tell a little bit? - played 3rd base and OF some - this guy went to Michigan state on a Football scholarship - I got drafted and played for the Saigon Maniacs! Afterwards played freshman college - walk on - again bench - now the story gets stupid - got drunk with friends went to W. Va late, got in accident - tore rotator cuff - throwing arm at 60% Played a lot of league softball until they started timing plate to 1st with a calendar! Hope this wasn't too boring and whiny - thanx for letting me share a little flashback - it was fun thinking back
