Hi Ho Silver, It's Grey?

Specifically, some older silver pieces that have a great luster and cartwheel effect on both the obverse and reverse, but seem to have a tinge of grey overcast on the reverse. Could this be from old album or cardboard box storage?
Opinions, experiences?

I'm guessing that it's just old fasioned oxidation. No matter how hard you try, Father Time gets everything in the end!

Silver just turns gray. Air is what does it. I'm always suspiscious of anything 100+ years old in silver that ISNT gray.
  • I'll second that. Grey = Good. Shiny/Silvery = Suspicious - Possibly Cleaned.
