What is it? German

Comments

  • Danish, unless I'm mistaken.
  • I don't think it is Danish. The Monogram is not right.

  • Looks to be a 2 pfennig coin, perhaps German states, Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel.
The rest of the legend seems to read

    scheide
    muntz
    then a date of 1770 or 1730 or 1732?

The monogram WH or HW could be a Wolfenbuttel.

Unfortunately I don't own the pre 1800 Krause world coins book, so that's all I can give you.

  • I agree it looks most *like* the Hannover piece, KM-147. While Krause doesn't have a pic of that particular coin in my catalog the description of 'crowned WR monogram' and the monogram is pictured in the front of the catalog.
But, this monogram is slightly different! It doesn't seem to be a WR. It's more like WJ. I haven't found a match for picture or ruler yet.
