Just what do I do with this?

I sold an item on eBay to a chap in Portugal for $50. He e-mailed and said "I'll be sending you cash." I got his letter today and he did send cash, but it was 50 Euro, not 50 Dollars.

I know the Euro is worth more than the Dollar, but where do I exchange it?

If you're an AAA member, they'll exchange it for you. So will most banks, but they will give you a lousy rate.

Call various banks in your town. Someone will probably be willing to exchange them. They may charge a service fee though if you don't have an account. If all else fails, save them until you buy something from a trusted european source.

Problem solved thanks to a friend in (or at least near) Europe.

I'd keep it. I happily take British pounds (for obvious reasons) from buyers in the UK.

You could look at it that way, but when buyers don't read the terms and don't follow instructions it does cause sellers problems. He'll still get a positive, but he has caused me extra work that I don't need. Oh well, not that big a thing.image
