Well, don't feel too bad, I once got a confirmation from my broker for $100,000.00 for a bond trade in an IRA account !!!!!!! Someone was on something that day.

Purely guessing, but if it's a salesman scam, it's not a bullion transaction. The commissions wouldn't amount to much. So it wouldn't be reportable.

On the other hand, 10K and up transactions might be given greater scrutiny by Blanchard or by a credit card company, so the value of the transaction is probably not a coincidence.
