Is the No Initials variety caused by filled dies or weak strike.

Caused by circle around a border bead - ie. struck over the initials or whatever...

Is the no initial a different die with larger beads. How do you tell if the initials have been removed after the fact.

I don't know about dies etc but there are two basic varieties (or seem to be). The first has no circles around the border beads. Therefore the WW shows. The second has circles etc etc which paritally obliterates the WW.

SO: If there are circles around the border beads it's likely to be genuine. If there aren't then the
WW would be partially removed by the villain.

Just as an aside, any variety of the 1849 Florin is very difficult to sell. There are loads of 'em about.
