Is this a Planchet?

Hi,
Does anybody know if this is a blank penny planchet? I received it in change a while back. Thanks, in advance, for any responses.

Yes, it does appear to be a type2 cent planchet.

Are those two pictures the same coin?Or is it for comparasion.If your comparing it,yes it's a blank.

Thanks. The other penny is for comparison purposes. Also, if I drop it on a table it sounds like the 1999 penny, more of a dull sound, whereas an older 1979 penny makes more of a ringing sound. So, it is a Type 2 planchet, hmmm... Are these rare?

No, they are very common and sell for about $1.

If it's blank, well the mint gives them out on free tours.
